Kamakura

Kamakura was once the center of power in old Japan. Numerous temples remain in the area, as well as the Great Buddha. An excellent one-day excursion or week-end getaway.
Access: train from Tokyo to Kitakamakura. See the sights north and west of the city. End up downtown and return from Kamakura station.
